Crypto trading bot development, honestly priced

Grid, arbitrage and signal bots, what they cost to build, and why the exchange side is the part that decides whether any of it works.

Crypto trading bot development, honestly priced

Bots are one of the most requested builds in this market and one of the most misunderstood. The code is rarely the hard part. The exchange connection, the risk limits and the accounting are.

The three kinds people ask for

Grid. Place ladders of buy and sell orders around a price and profit from oscillation. Simple logic, real money, and it loses badly in a trend. Honest to build, honest to explain.

Arbitrage. Buy on one venue, sell on another. The logic is trivial and the execution is everything: fees, withdrawal times, slippage and the fact that the spread you measured has usually gone by the time you act.

Signal following. Act on an indicator or an external feed. Whether it makes money depends on the signal, which is not a software question, and no developer can honestly promise it.

What the build actually involves

  • Exchange connectivity. REST for orders, websockets for fills and prices, and reconnect logic that assumes the connection will drop.
  • Idempotency. Orders must never be placed twice because a response was slow. Client order IDs, not hope.
  • Rate limits. Every venue bans you for a while if you ignore them, usually at the worst moment.
  • State. What is open, what filled, what partially filled, what the bot thinks it owns versus what the exchange says it owns. Reconciliation is the real product.
  • Risk limits. Maximum position, maximum daily loss, and a kill switch that works when everything else is on fire.
  • Accounting. Every fill recorded with fees, so profit and loss is a fact rather than an impression.

A bot that cannot reconcile its own position against the exchange is not a trading system, it is a random order generator with a nice chart.

Cost

Priced per project, because scope varies more than anywhere else on this site. A single venue grid bot with risk limits and a dashboard is a contained build. Multi venue arbitrage with inventory management is several times that, mostly in reconciliation and testing.

What we will not do is quote on returns. Anybody who prices a bot by promised profit is selling the promise, not the software.

If you are building one for your own exchange

A market making bot on your own venue is a different thing again, and usually a better use of money than arbitrage. It quotes both sides of your book so it is not empty, which is the problem most new venues actually have. That connects directly to how exchange liquidity gets started.

Questions

How much does a crypto trading bot cost to build

Quoted per project. A single venue grid bot with risk limits is a contained build; multi venue arbitrage is several times that because of reconciliation and testing.

Can a trading bot guarantee profit

No, and any developer who says otherwise is selling a promise rather than software. The code executes a strategy; whether the strategy earns is a separate question with no guarantee attached.

What is the hardest part of bot development

Reconciliation. Knowing exactly what is open, filled and owned on the exchange at every moment, and recovering correctly after a dropped connection or a restart.

Does arbitrage still work

Spreads close quickly and fees, withdrawal times and slippage eat most of what remains. It is a latency and inventory business rather than a code business.

Can a bot run against my own exchange

Yes, and market making your own book is usually more useful than chasing arbitrage. An empty book is the problem; a bot quoting both sides is a direct answer to it.

Do I need a server for a bot

Yes, and close to the venue if latency matters. For grid and signal bots an ordinary VPS is fine, the same class of machine an exchange build runs on.

Building one of these?

From past work, from $499. From scratch, from $999. The source code is yours either way, unencrypted.
