Instant swap platform development, the venue that works on day one

A quote engine, a spread you own and liquidity routed behind you. The cheapest real exchange to launch, and the inventory risk you take on in exchange.

Instant swap platform development, the venue that works on day one

Most people who ask for an order book would be better served by a swap for the first six months. It is the only exchange design that works with no users, because the other side of every trade comes from somewhere else.

How it works

1. The user picks two assets and an amount.

2. Your quote engine prices it: reference price, your spread, and any fee.

3. They send one asset, you send the other.

4. Behind the scenes you either hold inventory or buy the offsetting side on a larger venue.

No book, no matching, no empty screen problem.

What the build involves

  • A price source, with a fallback and an honest failure mode. This is the pricing engine, not decoration, and it is covered in where exchange price data comes from.
  • A spread model. Flat, per pair, or widening with size. Most new venues start flat and regret it on the first large order.
  • Quote expiry. A quote is a promise; it needs a lifetime measured in seconds and a visible countdown.
  • Inventory limits. A maximum per asset, per trade and per hour, so one user cannot drain a balance you need.
  • Routing, if you offset externally: API keys, rate limits and a reconciliation job that proves what was hedged.
  • Custody, the same as any venue: addresses, confirmations, sweeps, withdrawal controls.

The swap looks simpler because there is no book. The risk is not simpler. It moves from matching correctness to inventory and pricing.

Where the money comes from

The spread, and only the spread. There is no maker and taker schedule to explain and nothing for a user to compare line by line, which is why swaps convert better than order books for non traders. The discipline is that your spread has to cover the cost of the asset you buy back plus the network fee to deliver it.

Where new operators lose money

  • A spread set once. Volatility doubles and the spread does not. Make it configurable in the console.
  • No quote expiry. A user accepts a sixty second old price during a move and you fill it.
  • Ignoring the withdrawal fee. The payout leg costs network fees that are not constant.
  • Unlimited size. One large swap empties the inventory you needed for the next fifty small ones.

All four are console settings rather than code, which is the point: a swap is an operated business, and the operator needs the controls to hand.

What it costs

A swap from scratch starts at $999, or from $499 starting from one already built. Routing relationships, if you want to offset externally, are an integration quoted per venue. The full cost breakdown covers hosting and the rest.

Questions

What is an instant swap exchange

A venue where users convert one asset into another at a quoted price, with no order book. You set a spread over a reference price and source the other side from inventory or a larger venue.

Is a swap cheaper to build than an order book exchange

Usually yes, because there is no matching engine. More importantly it works from day one with no users, which an order book does not.

How do I make money on a swap platform

On the spread between the price you quote and the price you can source. There is no fee schedule, which also means nothing for a user to compare against a larger venue.

Where does the liquidity come from

Either your own inventory or an offsetting trade on a larger exchange. Most new venues start with inventory in a few assets and add routing once volume justifies the integration.

What stops someone exploiting a stale quote

Quote expiry measured in seconds, with a visible countdown, plus size limits. Without expiry a user can accept an old price during a fast move and you fill it at a loss.

Can I add an order book later

Yes, and that is the recommended path. Accounts, custody and the console carry over, so the order book arrives once there is volume to put in it.

Building one of these?

From past work, from $499. From scratch, from $999. The source code is yours either way, unencrypted.
